Fear No Evil
05:59
|
|||
I’ve gone walking, walking long time ago.
Searching, searching for my halo.
And I roll like fire on a fiery road.
And I will fear no evil.
Seek no, fear no evil.
Water, water, weave your story.
Over under into the morning.
Lead me, Lead me, to where that you go
And I will fear no evil.
Seek no, Fear no evil.
Mountain, mountain, speak your wisdom.
I will climb on, climb on, to your white aspen.
Guide me. Guide me to your sweet meadows.
And I will fear no evil.
Seek no, fear no evil.
I will fear no evil.
Seek no, fear no evil.
If the rain come down upon my head
I’ll cover my soul beneath the trees ahead
If the path is thread with thorn and vine
I’ll mend my wounds with smoke and cherry wine
These chains, they gone follow me to the grave
These chains, ain’t gone find my children

O'Mama
04:45
|
|||
I’m on my way... to the grave
Mother was a soul
Pure as morning snow
Every hour of
All her days
Til she wandered down
To the burial grounds
Found me there in the
Mud and rain
Time can be just a
Curse to those who want
To go back to some
Where they’ve been
But mama always said
You’ve got 2 grown legs
Walk on them up
Until the end
Higher road, Only thunderin’ pain
Lower road, Only riddles and rain
Oh mama don’t you come
To the river in the midnight sun
Or call my name to show the way
No don’t you take that ride
With the devil in the moonlit night
I’m on my way to the grave
When she come back home
That old light was gone
From her eyes, and skin
Pale white
Some say she'd been bless’d
Some said she possessed
Others say she just
Lost her mind
Elders told
Some old spirit that died
Taken hold
And it just crept on inside

Shaker
03:43
|
|||
You were brilliant on your birthday
In the warm setting sun
Running through the meadow
To catch a fire bug
Shaker
We chased the day to the furrows
And in the last fading light
You were shaking in your waistcoat
And I held your body tight
Shaker
When your soul gets to heaven
Eat a whole jar of jam
All that withers in the winter
Will rise on up again
Shaker
Can’t catch the butterflies
If your hands touch their wings they will die
Can’t catch a butterfly
You touch their wings they die

Orchid Child
05:24
|
|||
Three years old I was torn from sleep
By a vision most dreadful
My body’s singed and smoldering
Waking like paper on a bed of coal
Oh my boy, you’re just an orchid child
My mother, she said to me
You’ll shine thrice as bright as a dandelion
But your wounds will run thrice as deep
How the old seasons churn the valley
How the old bones are wearing thin
And ever this wicked apparition
Is lingering just beneath the skin
That’s the plight of an orchid child
Not a blessing nor a curse
Just a fistful of earthly magic
That leaves you with an insatiable thirst
I’ve got dandelions in my pockets now

Nothing
05:02
|
|||
I lit the house
And burned it down
And left my horses for dead
I wandered out
Into the dark and empty night
And kept my aim straight ahead
And here alone
In the silent cold I feel
the strangest thing
I’ve never felt before
I’ve got nothing and nothing is what
I’ll take with me.
Far away
Beneath the sky
The sea of white sacred lights
The morning sleeps
Inside the earth, the air, the leaves
Waiting for to arrive
And here alone
In the silent cold
I feel the strangest thing
I’ve never felt before
I’ve got nothing and nothing is what
I’ll take with me.
I’m here alone

A Change in the Weather
03:55
|
|||
Dreamed I watched my body sleeping
Pressed a palm against my chest
And pushed until the flesh turned river white
And in the morning
I was dark as cinder
Brittle as the words that make me wonder
If we’d ever believed in light
What fate we’d form
I’ve been feeling a change
A change in the weather
These days are seeming so strange
Stranger than ever
Stare into me now and I’d be blessed to find
The courage of a woman in the frailty of a man
Whose heart has abandoned
The spiricide we learned as children
To be too kind to say the hell with them
If they don’t understand the destination
I’ve been feeling a change
A change in the weather
These days are seeming so strange
Stranger than ever

If I dare to reach my hands across
This precarious divide
Would I suffer at the cost
Would I find you reaching
From the other side
Privately as frightened as I
If you trust to place a frail heart
Inside these wounded hands
And it’s abraded by the scars
Will you reach again for
The will to understand
I'm trying just as hard as I can
Mindful we fold our hands
One foot on the stone
One foot on the land
Praying we don’t come unhinged
And fall into the water
Below this drawing bridge
Living deep beneath the earth
We soil our Christly flesh
Writhing in the dirt
How I long to have you
Naked in the sun
Before the eyes of heaven
In the waves. In the waves. In the waves.
Mindful we fold our hands
One foot on the stone
One foot on the land
Praying we don’t come unhinged
And fall into the water
Below this drawing bridge

Adelaide
06:11
|
|||
Through the window in the morning
Came the sound of seabirds calling
and I was wakened by a whisper
But my failing eyes could find no one there
Oh Adelaide
Can you hear me child
Howling out into the air
I’ve gone oceans wide
Over endless tides
Praying I would find you there
without a sign
Of Adelaide
I dreamed her ashen
Clipper sails
Pierced the heather
Fog wind veil
To find her diving
Neath towering water
That swallowed the fortress down
Stern and bow
Oh Adelaide
My poor troubled mind
It wont let me lay you down
For I have lived and died
In this wakeless night
With nothing to be found
but a silent tide
of Adelaide
Peering over
The turning water
blackened billows
The sky a’thunder
Something out there
Pulled me closer
And I charged the broken waves
For the sight
Oh Adelaide
I can hear you child
Come to call my spirit home
n’ tho the frozen tide
Chills my body white
I’ve never felt so un-alone
Oh Adelaide
I'm right behind
